Microsoft has recently released a brand new Windows 11 preview build for users in the Release Preview channel from the Windows Insider program.
Windows 11 build 22000.776 is actually focused on fixes and additional improvements, though Microsoft has additionally included new capabilities, for example search highlights along with a bunch of other goodies.
“We added IP address auditing for incoming Windows Remote Management (WinRM) connections in security event 4262 and WinRM event 91. We fixed an issue that does not log the source IP address and machine name for an online PowerShell connection. We added Server Message Block (SMB) redirector (RDR) specific public File System Control (FSCTL) code FSCTL_LMR_QUERY_INFO. We made the SMB client and SMB server cipher suite order configurable using PowerShell,” Microsoft explains.
Obviously, there are lots of other alterations in this preview build, as the focus is on preparing the next major feature update for the production rollout.
For example, if you uninstall Windows Terminal, when you right-click the beginning menu on your device, you should now begin to see the Windows PowerShell.
Microsoft says it has also renamed Your Phone to Phone Link in the Settings app, while also resolving a glitch that caused the Microsoft Surface Dial customization settings page to crash.
For enterprises, Microsoft has resolved a certificate issue, it says.
“We fixed an issue that affects some certificates chains to Root Certification Authorities that are members of the Microsoft Root Certification Program. For these certificates, the certificate chain status could be, “This certificate was revoked by its certification authority,” the organization explains.
Keep in mind this is still a preview build, so you could still encounter various problems when running it. At this point, an ETA regarding when each one of these improvements could go love production devices isn’t yet available.
